Looking for Therapy?

Therapy helps us understand ourselves better, so we can live a happier life.

If you’re looking for a psychotherapist, something in your life is troubling you. Things don’t feel right, but perhaps figuring out what’s wrong, or changing what’s wrong, feels difficult or impossible to do on your own. Perhaps your attempts to work out what’s going on have become circular, so you always come back to the same place. Changing things for the better seems impossible. Perhaps you’re no longer able to see where you get stuck, or the points where you slip into patterns of thinking or behaving that are so familiar they’re invisible.

Slowing down

The goal of therapy is to insert spaces for reflection where they didn’t exist before.

Psychotherapy is about slowing things down, so together we can begin to notice and understand the patterns of reacting or thinking that usually kick in automatically, outside of awareness.

Therapy allows us to begin inserting new space for reflection, where before it felt like everything was running on autopilot. In those pauses we didn’t allow to happen before, lie choices we didn’t previously recognise as choices. And it is in those unrecognised spaces that freedom lies; freedom from repeating the same painful, self-defeating patterns. Freedom to do things differently.

Time for you

Therapy creates an opportunity to know yourself more fully, connect with others more deeply, and live life more congruently.

Psychodynamic therapy is designed to work with deep-seated difficulties which may have built up over a long period of time, perhaps from childhood.

Together we will explore the less conscious aspects of your thoughts and feelings, as these may be contributing to your current distress. As we work together, we may also become aware of how the emotional difficulties you bring to therapy play out in the therapy relationship. This opens up the possibility of bringing understanding to those issues in the immediate moment. Such moments can throw light on your everyday life, and open up the possibility of changing patterns you may have been unaware of.
